Huntington Bay Dental Book Drive
Honoring Dolly Parton’s legacy by helping books find new homes right here on Long Island
We’re calling on our Huntington Bay Dental community to help us spread a little joy this holiday season! From now through November 20, we’re collecting new and gently used books to share with children and families in need across Long Island.
The Inspiration? Dolly Parton and a lifelong love of giving.

— Dr. Julie DeSimone-LarsenFollowing Dolly’s passing, Dr. DeSimone-Larsen found herself reflecting not only on the music that brought her so much happiness, but also on the remarkable generosity that defined Dolly’s life.
From wildlife conservation to medical research and disaster relief, Dolly supported countless causes. But one initiative stood out to her above all others: Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
A Legacy Built One Book at a Time
In 1995, Dolly Parton launched the Imagination Library in her hometown of Sevier County, Tennessee, to honor her father, whose inability to read or write had limited his opportunities. Her mission was simple: inspire a love of reading by providing free books to young children.
What began as a local initiative has grown into an international program, gifting more than 325 million books to children from birth through age five and inspiring generations to dream big and imagine brighter futures.
Bringing Dolly’s Spirit of Giving to Huntington
At Huntington Bay Dental, caring for our community has always been an important part of who we are. Inspired by Dolly’s generosity and her belief in the power of reading, we’re excited to honor her legacy with a special holiday book drive.
Now through November 20, 2026, we’re collecting new and gently used books to share with individuals and families in need.
We’ve partnered with Book Fairies, a Long Island nonprofit that collects and redistributes books to under-resourced communities. Through its work with schools and community organizations, Book Fairies helps put books into the hands of people who might not otherwise have access to them.
We’re thrilled to support an organization making such a meaningful difference right here in our community.
