Julie DeSimone-Larsen, DMD

Julie DeSimone-Larsen, DMD, FAGD, FICOI, DipACLM earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Boston College in 2002 where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She earned her Doctorate in Dental Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania in 2006. Dr. DeSimone-Larsen continued her education with the General Practice Residency program at North Shore University Hospital.

At the completion of the program, she was selected to their 2-year Fellowship in Advanced Prosthodontics and Implant Dentistry. This is an intensive program focused on the placement and restoration of dental implants as well as comprehensive treatment planning and full-mouth rehabilitation.

Dr. DeSimone-Larsen is committed to continuing education. In 2011, she became a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. She has also earned Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry. She is a member of the American Dental Association, the New York State Dental Society, the Suffolk County Dental Society, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and the Academy of General Dentistry.

In 2021, Dr. DeSimone-Larsen earned Diplomat status with the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. Lifestyle medicine is the use of evidence-based lifestyle therapeutic intervention—including a whole-food, plant-predominant eating pattern, regular physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances and positive social connection—as a primary modality, delivered by clinicians trained and certified in this specialty, to prevent, treat and often reverse chronic disease.

When Dr. DeSimone-Larsen’s not at the office, she’s spending time with her family. She lives in Northport with her husband, Andy Larsen, and their 3 children. She is a huge New York sports fan and a decade-long fantasy football player. She enjoys cooking, reading, music, and yoga (600 Peloton classes and counting).

Dr. Julie DeSimone-Larsen received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Boston College in 2002.  She graduated Summa Cum Laude which is the highest honor awarded to the top 4.5% of the graduating class.  While at Boston College, she was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society which recognizes the scholarship and character achievements of seniors, The Golden Key International Honor Society which recognizes the top fifteen percent of college juniors and seniors, and The National Society of Collegiate Scholars which recognizes the academic achievement of college freshmen and sophomores.

She made the Dean’s List every semester.    She was a member of the Boston College Dance Ensemble, a student-run organization where she was a choreographer and performer.  All proceeds the Dance Ensemble generates from their performances benefits the Boston College Campus School, a non-profit  special education day school for students ages 3-21.

Dr. DeSimone-Larsen earned her Doctorate in Dental Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania in 2006.  She was inducted into the Matthew Cryer Honor Society which honors the ten highest-ranked students at the completion of second year and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society which honors the top twelve percent of students at the completion of fourth year.  Dr. DeSimone-Larsen also earned the National Board Achievement Award for outstanding achievement on The National Dental Board Examination Part II, The Professor Morton Amsterdam Award for demonstrating outstanding ability in comprehensive treatment planning and patient care, The Henry B. Robinson Award for the fourth year student who has demonstrated the highest proficiency in all phases of clinical dentistry, The American Dental Society of Anesthesiology Horace Wells Senior Student award for outstanding achievement in the field of dental anesthesiology,  and The Anna & Dr. Wolf Award given to a deserving senior student.  She was a Dean’s Scholar all four years of dental school.

Dr. DeSimone-Larsen has a passion for education.  She has participated as a volunteer professor of Gross Anatomy at Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine.  She participates monthly in continuing education and is part of a local SPEAR Study Club with local specialists.  SPEAR Study Clubs integrate evidence based clinical instruction and online learning while utilizing interdisciplinary collaboration.

Dr. DeSimone-Larsen participated in a Dental Mission trip to Old Harbour, Jamaica where her group of three dentists treated over 150 patients daily for five days.

When Dr. DeSimone-Larsen’s not at the office, she’s spending time with her family.  She lives in East Northport with her husband, Andy Larsen, and their children.  She is a huge New York sports fan and a decade-long fantasy football player.  She enjoys cooking, baking, reading, music and yoga.
